Schroff

The Schroff company, a world leader in electronics packaging design and fabrication, offers a wide range of innovative and high-quality standard products: 19" cabinets, subracks, cases, backplanes, motherboards, and microcomputer systems. Modifications required by our customers are carried out by the Schroff integration service.

A Bit of History…

In 1962 Gunther Schroff founded the company in Germany and built electric power supplies. In parallel to this he noticed a lack of packaging systems for electronics on the market: This led rapidly to a complete range of products including subracks, cases, and 19" cabinets.

In 1965 Schroff developed a subrack system for euro boards called "europac", compatible with the European printed circuit board format and based on 19" technology. The DIN standards authority, and then IEC, opened the doors to the world market for the «europac" system. It really entered the global market when the European board format standard was adopted by Japan and the USA. The 19" standard became the "universal dimension" for electronics systems, thus making Gunther Schroff one of the pioneers of 19" technology. Today Schroff engineers take an active part on the international standards committees to ensure that Schroff products continue to lead international standards.

The Schroff SAS production site at Betschdorf (Alsace) opened in 1979 with an original production area of 2,600 m?. Today it occupies 17,500 m?, and at no stage during this expansion did production stop. Thanks to a system of quality-environment-security management Schroff became a world competence center for subracks and obtained ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. During the 1980s branches were created in the United Kingdom, the USA and Japan. Commercial representations were also established in Scandinavia, Italy, and Poland.

In 1994 Schroff became part of Pentair Technical Products, a global business unit of Pentair Inc., which is listed at the New York stock exchange under PNR. The Pentair group has its headquarters in Minnesota/USA and employs approximately 13,000 employees in 50 locations.

Globalization

As an international company Schroff takes advantage of globalization. With manufacturing and development facilities worldwide and a decentralized distribution network in more than 35 countries, Pentair Technical Products is close to the customer and in a position to optimize its exploitation of local marketing opportunities.

Quality and Qualification

For over 40 years Schroff has been a synonym for quality and competence in 19" technology. Modern production facilities and an extensive quality control system guarantee the outstanding quality standard of Schroff products. But the most important assurance of quality is the employees. The highly demanding environment that arises from constant changes means that all employees must be kept up to date with the latest technology and must update their knowledge continually. Extensive continuing education programs plus the experience gained from numerous international projects make the technical qualifications and motivation of the employees the most important active ingredient in all of the company’s activities.

Customer Orientation

Over the last years the requirements placed on cabinet and case manufacturers have changed. More and more customers are calling for complete systems, adapted to their businesses and optimized for their individual applications. Thanks to its long experience and its highly qualified employees, Schroff is in a position to offer its customers the right electronics packaging solution. Moreover Schroff has the engineering and manufacturing capacity at its disposal to offer demanding customized solutions – for telecommunications and datacom, energy technology, measurement, control and instrumentation technology, medicine technology, industry and automation technology, railway and transport technology, safety and defense technology or any other electronics applications. In a partnership with Schroff the customer benefits from the development stage through to serial production. Module-based standard products are modified according to customer needs and realized by the integrations service. A highly effective concept that allows innovative solutions to be realized quickly and economically.

From a Single Source

Schroff understands system integration to mean the integration of certain elements of electronics packaging, such as cabling, climate control, power supply, or EMC protection, into one electronics cabinet or case. Customers thus obtain a plug-and-play product for their 19" equipment. Schroff’s customer care as an electronics packaging specialist thus begins with the specification and design and runs through the purchasing of the prototype, testing and checking, and extends to volume manufacture.

Customers benefit from the fact that they deal with only a single supplier and must place only one order for the entire packaging system. This allows you to concentrate entirely on your own core competence.

Schroff products and services are the results of a systematic and continuing focus on the global needs of the electronics markets over many years. By continuously strengthening our core competencies, we are able to offer customers additional value through our expertise in electronics packaging, thermal management and electromagnetic compatibility.
